GMi has recently spent a week filming on the amazing Barrow Island – home to the Gorgon Gas Project, Australia’s largest resource project.
Filming on a remote location in hot, humid conditions put crew and equipment to the test. More equipment went north on this trip than ever before, cameras, field edit systems, lighting, audio kits, support gear – and then all the crews gear.
Staying at the workers camp and rising at 3.30am each day for pre dawn filming the thing that surprised us most was the humidity – roofs running with water in the morning off nothing more than condensation. These were very trying conditions for the equipment with moisture, dust and vibration. Our Panasonic 502 with its solid state recording system and our smaller HD camera from Sony performed excellently. <--back
